The opacity is why I refuse to participate in TikTok et al. Not knowing where your data is going is Step #1 in how it ends up in bad hands.

My Millennial wife orders regularly from Shein. Not surprised they are killing it. Cutting edge fashion, decent quality, low low prices.

I am amused when the whiners complain about about waste, exploitation and other woke concepts. As for waste there is a lot of money flowing to manufacturing, sales, distribution/delivery. Not just to Shein but to every company and employee who is part of the process. Not talking about profit. Talking about income to countless people employed by the direct and indirect tentacles necessary to keep Shein (or any other company) in business. Tell Shein they are not allowed to cut costs to the bone? Tell them they are not allowed to shift gears in a nano-second and stop making this, start making that? The result will be bad for huge numbers of those depending on a Shein-related paycheck.

As for exploitation, aren't we all exploited to an extent? Each of us must work to provide quite a bit more value than we are paid. That is the way economics works. If we don't like our own exploitation maybe we should be villifying our own company too. Or is it that our criticism of exploitation stops just short of the line reaching us?

As for tariffs and sanctions, anything with political overtones has its genesis in someone/some company not liking the fact another someone/another company is eating its lunch economically. But in today's totally interconnected economic world it becomes laughable to complain about our country's left hand allowing "x" when the right hand is doing "y". Economies are just too entangled today and there is just too much gray to use simplistic black and white labels. Also, never forget everyone has an agenda, often badly hidden.

Bottom line: human nature wants more. More money, more power, more enjoyment, more wins, more everything. And human nature will get it. Toes may get stepped on. Some will lose for a time before they find a way to win. But overall, progress is the result. Shein on. :-)

Wow loved the detail here!

I'd written something about Shein supply chain which spreads a bit more light on the supply chain part that you mentioned https://endgameken.substack.com/p/the-shein-choke-hold

Does the Temu drone work? I was thinking about buying one from DJI for $1400 but if I could get 100 for the same price from Temu and create a swarm that would be much preferred.
