I quit Amazon a few months ago. too much crap, orders arriving over multiple days in mountains of packaging and not necessarily the best price. I had become sick of scroll shopping - time for virtual isles with formiliar items having exceptional reputation - separarte focus on new untested products and real reviews. No more unidentified crap knockoffs. Worse: my grocery store is Whole Foods (closest) and now I have to pay $109 membership fee to get discounts on food! I'm a one person household. The whole Amazon "value" thing is totally escaping me!

The problem with Amazon is of course "margins." Physical products don't have much margins that's why Amazon doesn't make money that way. All the "selling" allowed them to build AWS which is their big profit center. The Marketplace lets them collect fees which encourages volume at the expense of quality and the margins of the sellers, who are in a never ending race to the bottom. They simply don't have much skin in the product game because their profit comes from services.

Its always sucked, but lazy americans love it, and shitty chinese sellers love selling you their crap.

And all these customer service messages... We at Amazon give to the needy. We at Amazon donate to the homeless. We at Amazon do big and think big. Yeah - they think big about their profits. They're giving back for a tax shelter and screwing the people that order items from them. I give more to charity per capita every year than Amazon does by percentage of income / debt ratio. Before long these guys are gonna be a monopoly. Didn't the government outlaw that type of behavior in the 1920's?

I just got back from Ireland because my partner died unexpectedly. I went home after the funeral (supposed to fly back in 5 hours post funeral to Ireland). Went to watch my Fire TV. Account suspended from non use. OK, no problem, I still have all the content I purchased through them that I own. Should be accessible right? Wrong. Spent two hours and 20 minutes on the phone with support. They told me after the 3rd transfer my device was out of date and I needed a new one that they were not willing to replace. Needless to say this is the second device they sent me because the first one died like a month after receipt. After all the time on the phone, they wanted to send me a gift card for 1/2 the value of the decrepid device that was defective when they sent it to me. I have to redeem that to get a replacement device, which is NOT the device I currently have and the new one is not compatible with my remote - I have to buy that separately.

Customer Service is abhorrent to say the least. I dropped my Amazon account today. Think twice before you use them. They'll ship you whatever you want but don't stand behind anything they sell. Good luck ever getting a refund or replacement for a wrong order. They are NOT reputable.

amazon sucks if you know what you want. their search engine...or should I say "roulette wheel"?

sends you crap you didn't ask for, and what the hell is so hard about providing relative search results? You can put in EXACTLY what you want (make & model) and the damn thing gives you a mountain of results you have to search through manually. Whats the point?

You can't filter anything (using any sort of logic, again I refer you to the 'roulette wheel'-ness of the whole thing)

In India the sellers sell cheap items with higher price with non-returnable option. Amazon doesn’t care even when the item is expensive and doesn’t match the features as mentioned in their portal.

Now, 2 day Prime delivery has turned into 5 days, sometimes more, even including items Sold and shipped by Amazon, and "in stock" at the warehouse. But does Amazon do anything about this? Noooo. They could return some amount of the $119 yearly fee, also no. I suggest calling CS every time they do not meet the date they told you on the product page, which changes as soon as you get to the "place your order" page. Rant, but be polite to the phone rep, assuring them you do not blame them, and they will give you a cash credit. Done it plenty of times, as Amazon is sure to screw up frequently.

Google went downhil from there on and other sites went with their own version. A bunch of AI bots were bought out. It was in the WSJ at the time and questions concerning the use of these robots but was largely brushed off.

Now with phone users in the midst of it all it's confusing things even more as phone users generally do basic searches so the AI thinks that's what most users want.

The problem lies when Google purchased Watson back in 2014 there were two versions. One that lost at Jeopardy and one that won by using player feedback. Google did the one without feedback so therefore it is continuously adapting to what most users search on. Not what YOU search for personally and it compiles it trying to figure out what you want.

All this could go away with some simple feedback like NO I AM NOT SHOPPING and remove.com links if your looking at fixing something. Even better to remove certain sites that keep going to the top like Reddit or God forbid Snopes both VERY liberal and have been caught in their own lies. I won't say anymore for fearing to hit any politically correct ban filters.

I cannot believe that, after all these years of subscribing to Amazon Prime and Video, I am now getting more commercials than programming with certain shows. Unbelievable that a paid subscription bombards you with commercials. So sorry I paid a year in advance - never again.
